I’ve finally arrived in Houston! The last time I was in Texas, I visited Killeen to see my niece graduate from 8th grade; and this week, she’s graduating from college. The family has waited four years, including the drama that comes along with it. What type of drama? Well I have one family member that doesn’t like me. Others in the family have come to the conclusion that it’s because…
It’s a few weeks before Valentine’s Day, and my husband asks where I would like to eat so he can make reservations. The exciting part about Valentine’s Day is this year it’s on a Thursday. My husband is off work on Wednesdays, and we can celebrate without worrying about the extra crowds! I quickly blurt out, “I want to go to the Grand Lux Café”!
Ugh! I need to exercise more, but I hate exercising. I’ve purchased a treadmill and elliptical trainer that are sitting in my basement. I’ve used both of them a lot, but I usually stop because I’ve either hurt my ankle or my work schedule has allowed me to slack off. Definitely all excuses. Crap, I’ve spent at least $3,400 on my American Express card for these machines, I need to use them! I haven’t made it a priority to sweat my butt off before or after work. Three things that I’m working on this month towards my goals.
As 2019 approaches, I’ve been reflecting on a few things that happened to me personally during 2018. It’s a good way to start as I think about making a New Year’s resolution.
It was a fantasy to work with my celebrity crush, until the day it became a reality. When working for a nonprofit organization, you wear many hats. At times you’re busy and attend so many meetings, taking a lunch break away from the desk can be a fantasy. One day, a few of my team members were brainstorming ideas for a local celebrity influencer for the next Christmas fundraiser. It’s…

Yesterday, I was at a fundraising event for my job at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. While I was there, I had to use the bathroom. First of all, I hate using public bathrooms, but I psyched myself up because it was a brand new constructed area, and I automatically thought I would not have a “scary” experience.
I recently visited the Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe at the Water Tower location at 196 E. Pearson Street, Chicago, IL. I’ve been wanting to go to Wildberry for a couple of years. My youngest daughter used to work for Postmates food delivery service and would tell me every time she would pick up an order from the Randolph location (Prudential Plaza), there was always a huge line out the door. Needless to say, I had visited their website and viewed all the delicious items, but I was so disappointed because I don’t do long food lines. There were even suggestions to use an online waiting list. Are you kidding me? I love the convenience, but that’s insane!
My morning routine usually consists of checking my phone to see what’s happening on Facebook. I was quickly reminded that today, October 1, is the one year anniversary of the Las Vegas mass shooting. On that horrific day, I was in town celebrating my 13th year wedding anniversary. After flying in and getting settled into our resort, my husband and I were driving on the strip to go to the MGM Grand to see the Jabbawockeez. Little did we know there was a major country music festival happening, and it was the reason why we were sitting in so much traffic.
Meet my mother Carolyn. She’s a married woman with 2 adult children, 3 grand-children, and 1 great-grand child on the way. Yes she looks amazing for her age! My mom is semi-retired, works hard at being a woman of God (she’s an evangelist), and is in need of a vacation. Fortunately, she has me to tag along for a girls trip!
