Christmas Time at Museum of Science and Industry

I haven’t been at the Museum of Science and Industry since I was a child in grammar school on a field trip. This year I found a Groupon with an option to take a photo with Santa and get some milk and cookies! Wow did I have a great time! Going on a weekday meant less crowds and snotty nose kids.

Houston Texas Baby! Where Everything is Bigger!

I’ve finally arrived in Houston!  The last time I was in Texas, I visited Killeen to see my niece graduate from 8th grade; and this week, she’s graduating from college. The family has waited four years, including the drama that comes along with it. What type of drama? Well I have one family member that doesn’t like me. Others in the family have come to the conclusion that it’s because…

Bathrooms are Not One Size Fits All

Updated: Monday, December 10, 2018

Yesterday, I was at a fundraising event for my job at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. While I was there, I had to use the bathroom. First of all, I hate using public bathrooms, but I psyched myself up because it was a brand new constructed area, and I automatically thought I would not have a “scary” experience.

Weekday Breakfast at Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe

I recently visited the Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe at the Water Tower location at 196 E. Pearson Street, Chicago, IL. I’ve been wanting to go to Wildberry for a couple of years. My youngest daughter used to work for Postmates food delivery service and would tell me every time she would pick up an order from the Randolph location (Prudential Plaza), there was always a huge line out the door. Needless to say, I had visited their website and viewed all the delicious items, but I was so disappointed because I don’t do long food lines. There were even suggestions to use an online waiting list. Are you kidding me? I love the convenience, but that’s insane!

Vegas Strong…One Year Later

My morning routine usually consists of checking my phone to see what’s happening on Facebook. I was quickly reminded that today, October 1, is the one year anniversary of the Las Vegas mass shooting.  On that horrific day, I was in town celebrating my 13th year wedding anniversary. After flying in and getting settled into our resort, my husband and I were driving on the strip to go to the MGM Grand to see the Jabbawockeez. Little did we know there was a major country music festival happening, and it was the reason why we were sitting in so much traffic.

Girls Trip at The Grand at Moon Palace

Meet my mother Carolyn. She’s a married woman with 2 adult children, 3 grand-children, and 1 great-grand child on the way. Yes she looks amazing for her age! My mom is semi-retired, works hard at being a woman of God (she’s an evangelist), and is in need of a vacation. Fortunately, she has me to tag along for a girls trip!

Our Family Road Trip and Some Black History

In 2015, we took a family road trip to Texas to see my niece graduate from high school.  Half-way through the trip, we stopped in Memphis, Tennesee to take a break, and to do a little sightseeing before getting back on the road. During our visit, my family and I walked on Beale Street to hear the sounds of the blues. We also ate great southern cooking from both Charles Vergo’s Rendezvous and Gus’s Fried Chicken

Traveling with Fibroids While Plus Size

Since I was diagnosed with fibroids, it has helped me mentally to know that my body is not weird, and to prepare myself during the dreaded menstrual cycle. Going to work, visiting friends, or going on vacation with family can be a real hassle. Traveling with fibroids can be the worst. There’s more to pack that takes up space in your purse or suitcase – extra clothes, panties, tampons, and maxi-pads! And God forbid, don’t pack anything white!
