It’s May 4th and that’s a special day for Star War fans and my husband, because it’s his birthday! Since he loves Mexican food, I figured we’d celebrate his birthday at Cantón Regio. I’ve been vaccinated since early April, and it’s my first time having a meal at a restaurant in over a year.
I found Cantón Regio through Yelp as I was searching for a restaurant that was in Chicago’s southside, easy parking, and of course, latin food. That brought me to Pilsen neighborhood. Cantón had lots of great reviews and photos, so I figured why not?
First of all, it was a little damp out as its early May in Chicago and raining. I gladly welcomed the chicken soup that was sat in front of us without requesting. It comes automatically along with chips and salsa.
My husband decided to get tilapia tacos, but the main event for me was the steak fajitas. It comes with refried beans and guacamole. I don’t like refried beans, but I’m so glad that I didn’t tell to not give them because these were the best refried beans I’ve ever tasted in my entire life!
We were too full to try dessert, but I definitely have to make another trip to taste the other menu options. The fajitas alone would make Cantón Regio one of the mexican restaurants in Chicago. If you ever visit, this restaurant is cash only, no credit cards accepted.
