Today, I wrapped up my year-long Brunch Challenge at Stussy’s Diner in Bridgeport on Chicago’s South Side. The spot radiates a playful retro vibe with its striking pink and green decor—possibly paying homage to the AKA sorority. Owned by the Nance family, the diner carries a story of resilience (read more on Block Club Chicago).
Although the restaurant doesn’t currently have reservations, we were greeted and seated right away. The menu boasted American and comfort food classics, including steak and eggs, salmon and grits, chicken and waffles and omelettes and flights of french toast.
The husband and I decided to get the Southwestern Omelette, Salmon Croquettes and a side of grits with cajun cream sauce, and along with a side of bacon and pancakes. The food was good, I’d give it a 4 out of 5 stars. The grits was the only thing that was missed the mark for me.
Overall, Stussy’s Diner is a delightful place for brunch with friends.
