Foodie Review: Pearl’s Southern Comfort

69

Honestly, I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to write about my wonderful experiences at Pearl’s Southern Comfort.  I’ve been to the cajun-creole comfort spot so many times – most of them were pre-covid.  During the pandemic, I visited Pearl Southern Comfort a few times, and it was really sad to see no table or bar service.  Only a greeter at a table to welcome the delivery food drivers, or to ask customers if they were picking up an order.

Well today, I just so happened to be in the area while Mayor Lightfoot was lifting more restaurant restrictions in Chicago.  This time when I walked into Pearl’s Southern Comfort, there were customers sitting at the tables, chatting, laughing and social-distancing. It was a great sight to see.  I picked up my usual, smoked wings with regular and white bbq sauce on the side, plus my favorite entree – blackened catfish with mac and cheese, plus collard greens.  Oh the ride home always smells so good!

More favorite items on the menu are the Creole Cornbread, New Orleans BBQ Shrimp (I make a pretty good version too), Mississippi Catfish Bites, and the warm chocolate brownie a la mode! There’s so many choices, you’ll have to go back to try each one.
