Foodie Review: Loco Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

As you have probably read in other blog posts created in 2023, I set a goal to visit one “new-to-me” Mexican restaurant each month. These restaurants have been around for years, but for some reason, I’ve never visited.  Loco Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Indianapolis, Indiana, is number nine on the list!  

This month, the hubby and I decided to take an impromptu road trip to Louisville, Indiana.  While on our way, we stop in Indianapolis for lunch. I searched on Google Maps, “Mexican Restaurant Near Me”, and Loco Mexican Restaurant and Cantina popped up as a nearby location with 4.5 star reviews.  This was great because I was super hungry! Recently, I stopped taking Saxenda because it’s currently on backorder, which means I’m feeling all the hunger pains!

It didn’t take long to find a park, but while driving, we looked around and saw that this was a really cute and quaint neighborhood. It reminded me of LaGrange or maybe Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.  When we walked in, there was a nice lunch-crowd, but there were some seats still available. Again, thankfully no line because I was hungry.

The menu included different types of tacos, fajitas, and burritos. I was really interested in the enchiladas filled with crab and shrimp; but the waitress informed me it was imitation crab. I sort of figured that when I saw the low price, but had to ask. 

Because we were on a roadtrip, and didn’t want to get something that would totally mess up my stomach, I decided to get the steak fajitas. My husband was brave and got the burrito stuffed with chorizo, steak, and chicken with rice and beans. 

We enjoyed everything. It’s always great to check out a restaurant that you’ve never heard of and get great food with a nice ambience. That’s the best part about roadtrips!
