OPA! is the first restaurant the hubby and I are visiting during our 2025 International Food Challenge. Chicagoland has multiple ethnic communities. This year, I thought it would be nice to purposely go to at least one ethnic restaurant per month, because you know… American food is so over-rated!
There are plenty of Greek restaurants in Chicago, but I did not want to deal with the parking in Greek-town, which is a tourist trap in Chicago’s West Loop. OPA! has two locations within Frankfort and Orland Park. I’ve driven by the Orland Park location multiple times, but today was my first time checking it out.
The restaurant has a lot of space, great for family gatherings or parties. We went on a Saturday night and staff were super busy. It seems they may have been understaffed, but our host did his best to make sure we were getting our meals. You’ll hear a lot of “OPA!” while at the restaurant; tons of Saganaki was being served throughout the night.
The portion sizes are huge! For the appetizer we ordered fried zucchini and the Greek egg rolls with gyro and feta cheese. That could have been a meal all by itself.
For the actual entree, we ordered the Grecian chicken and the chicken pasta with mushrooms and bacon. We took 1/2 of our food home to eat for lunch the next day. We also took a slice of the Baklava cheesecake home. I liked the baklava and my husband liked the cheesecake, but we didn’t like the combination.
