Foodie Review: Maiz & Barro Mexican Grill – Cantina

So… my husband and I stumbled upon Maíz and Barro Mexican Grill – Cantina trying to find something to eat while we were in Oak Forest. First of all, it’s a whole vibe when you walk in. We started off with some chips and salsa. I had the mango mojito. The flavor was perfect and so was the amount of alcohol! You didn’t taste too much, just a hint.

Maiz and Barro has really nice empanadas. It was my first time having ground beef in it. Usually I get chicken empanadas. We both got the chicken enchiladas. He had the Rojas, I had the Verde. Both were good, but I do prefer shredded chicken over diced. The rice was great. The beans were okay, but I’ve definitely had better. I also got one steak taco and that was so delicious. Super simple with the cilantro, but the marinade used and the grilled flavor was great!

I’ll definitely be back for more steak tacos and drinks!
