Honey Bear Cafe is located on the north side of Chicago in the Rogers Park neighborhood. My old stomping grounds. I’m currently a south-sider, but I didn’t mind making the trip for some deliciousness. Honey Bear Cafe has been on my brunch foodie list for a while. Of course, they had to be a part of the 2024 Brunch Challenge.
We stopped by on a Tuesday morning, which turned out to be a perfect choice since there was plenty of metered street parking available. Our reservation was for 10 a.m., and even though the restaurant was bustling with activity when we arrived, we were seated at our table right away. To top it off, our hostess warmly greeted us with a sweet treat—strawberry cheesecake bites. What a delicious start to our visit!
We came for the Southern-Cajun breakfast specialties, but I couldn’t resist starting with a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed blood orange juice.
Once our orders were taken, our food arrived surprisingly quickly—especially considering the dishes we ordered. Of course, everything was absolutely delicious! The portion sizes were generous, too, so I even had leftovers to enjoy the next day.
The vibe at Honey Bear Cafe is great – very warming and welcoming. It’s great for groups, dates and business meetings. The menu is very expansive. I can’t wait to come back again.
