Soul Crab Chicago

UPDATE: As of February 10,  2020… Soul Crab Chicago closed, but if you can still read about my experience from the grand opening back in September 2019. I know, it’s only September, but I truly believe Soul Crab Chicago is the best southern dining restaurant I’ve visited in 2019! The food, the chef, the ambiance, the music… ok I could just go on and on with how much I love…

Batter & Berries

“Deliciousness”, “My Happy Place”, “Savoriness under the Sun” are just a few ways to describe Batter & Berries. Located in the trendy Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, it’s a nice go-to brunch spot, especially during the week, when the street parking is more accessible. Batter & Berries has its regular menu of pancakes, french toast, waffles, deconstructed omelets, and sandwiches, but the special items are found on its Instagram account….

Eppel’s Restaurant

It’s rare that I’m in the downtown area of Chicago, but when I do go, I usually like to visit a restaurant that has good food, convenient, and has cheap parking. Eppel’s Restaurant is all of that. Today was possibly my third visit to the location, and I was determined to get a Belgium waffle. It was also July 29th – National Chicken Wing Day, which means one of my…

God Bless the Funnel Cake Sundae at the 26th Street Sugar Shack

I try my best to visit at least twice each year, but it appears me and the rest of Chicagoland is there too.  Usually I have to coordinate and plan a trip with the husband so that I sit with the car as there is rarely street parking available, and he…

Celebrity Crush Plus Local Influencer Equals Cool

It was a fantasy to work with my celebrity crush, until the day it became a reality. When working for a nonprofit organization, you wear many hats. At times you’re busy and attend so many meetings, taking a lunch break away from the desk can be a fantasy. One day, a few of my team members were brainstorming ideas for a local celebrity influencer for the next Christmas fundraiser. It’s…

Only at Chicago’s 87th and the Dan Ryan

I’ve been living on the south-side of Chicago for over 11 years, and it never ceases to amaze me of how there is one particular area that pretty much gets away with selling everything under the sun to drivers attempting to get on one of Chicago’s major expressways, I-94. This area is 87th and the Dan Ryan.  From t-shirts, hats, towels, candy, socks, batteries, water, juice, a bubble machine, and bean pies, the options are never ending!
